Since mid-2016, TCI has been supporting a large system house in establishing cloud services as a new business area. TCI played a key role from the initial ideas to the creation of the business case to the successful realization of the go-live of the new digital platform. As a result, the development of the cloud platform was not only completed within a very short time: It was also able to be smoothly integrated and networked into the existing infrastructure. The other figures are also good: The service was well received on the very first day.

Accompanied by TCI: The development of a new cloud platform

Our customer's business is essentially based on two pillars: The first pillar consists of the IT system houses and the Managed Services division, while the second is the e-commerce business. The e-commerce business, which essentially comprised the sale of hardware, had come under increasing pressure due to the increasing spread and availability of computing power and storage in the cloud. Our customer decided to also enter the cloud business and offer both in-house and externally produced cloud services. To this end, a program was set up with the aim of quickly establishing a suitable digital cloud platform and place it on the market.

Efficient start: Quick and careful at the same time

TCI was involved right from the start. The first task was to translate the initial ideas into a business case that could be approved by the management. At the beginning of the year, the implementation project was then able to gain momentum. In a first step, the necessary clarification and coordination discussions were intensified with two potential implementation partners. The kick-off of the realization project took place shortly afterwards.

After just four months of intensive development work, the customer was able to put its new digital cloud portal into operation. Despite the short development time, not only was a platform for the provisioning of cloud services built and a new billing platform for these services implemented. Full integration into the existing back office systems was also completed. This integration ensures that all locations are optimally included in the cloud processes with the customers and that support for all of the company's products is available. from a single source can.

Successful cloud platform: the work bore fruit immediately

Our customer's decision to have its own cloud platform on the market has already met with a high level of acceptance. Several customers have been using this offering from the very first day it went live. Due to the high demand, the service offering, which is initially focused on Microsoft products, is also being rapidly expanded. The addition of further service providers is planned for the coming weeks. In addition, in-house cloud infrastructure services will also be offered.

TCI's role in building the cloud platform

TCI's contribution is also obviously appreciated. TCI's support now goes beyond collaboration on platform development. Recently, a TCI colleague has been involved in the restructuring and automation of the Content management is concerned. In addition, another colleague has taken over the role of Head of Finance on an interim basis.
