Agile management has been on the rise for several years now. Originating 20 years ago in software development, the principle of agility has now established itself in projects of all kinds. To mark the milestone birthday of agile management, the book "Agility in companies. A practical introduction to SAFe® and Co." published by Springer Verlag, edited by TCI partners Mario A. Pfannstiel, Werner Siedl and Peter F.-J. Steinhoff.
Greater speed requires greater flexibility: on the need for agility in companies
Agile working suits our times: faster market changes and faster innovations demand more flexibility in companies. Agile management makes this easier to achieve: Teams and companies can react quickly and flexibly to changes during the development process. The reason: agile projects are not planned from start to finish, but proceed step by step in iterations. The goal is also predetermined, but not the way to get there. This enables selective and situational adjustments to procedures and a high degree of autonomy for employees and managers.
SAFe® combines "lean" and "agile" management to create a dual operating system for the future
With the help of agility in general and SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework®) in particular, companies can react quickly to megatrends such as digitalization and the associated customer and market changes. This enables companies to proactively shape their future and their environment and anticipate future developments.
Special attention is paid to SAFe®, which integrates the "lean" and "agile" management approaches in a sustainable way. This provides companies with a stable foundation of business agility, organizational agility and technology agility. As a special highlight, the editors were able to win SAFe® inventor Dean Leffingwell for a foreword.
